Celebrating alongside our favourite dark knights on the day will be a plethora of musical delights. These include Interpol, Goldfrapp, Editors, Ride, Slowdive and The Twilight Sad, with many more yet to be announced.

History

As many of you know The Cure was formed in Crawley, West Sussex in 1976. The band has experienced several line-up changes, with vocalist, guitarist, and principal songwriter Robert Smith being the only constant member. Their debut album, Three Imaginary Boys, was released in 1979 and received critical acclaim. Along with several earlier singles, the band soon became a firm favourite among the post-punk and New Wave movements. This is largely due to the post punk rock revolution in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s.
Lyrically, their music had always been very provocative. Along with driving bass lines and pseudo-electronic beats, the band formed dark and tormented music which became the staple of the emerging style of music known as gothic rock.
